Compare and contrast the Ghost Festival in Taiwan

The Day of the Dead in Mexico

    Similarly with The Ghost Festival and Day of the Dead are the holiday which observe the celebration for the departed people. In contrast, there are several diffrent customs between them. For example, The Ghost Festival in Taiwan , people burn the small house which made out of papers. But in Mexican Day of the Dead, the inhabitants dress in ghosts, mummies and skeletons. They parade through the town and carry an open coffin.

 

    In Ghost Festival, people kill big pigs and sheep, putting on the table. These are offered to

one's ancestors and ghost from the underworld. In Mexico , The Day of the Dead, every families

arrange ofrenda's or altars with flowers, bread,  fruit, candy and the pictures of family members who

are dead .

 

    In the seven lunar month of Ghost Festival. People keep away from rivers, swimming pools and

beaches or do not take a long distance trip. That's because they believe the ghost might hide everywhere

to catch the livings. As a result people scare of ghosts during the Ghost Festival.  In Day of the Dead, the families travel to the departed family members grave. They carry hoes, picks,  shovels, candy, flowers, candles, blankets and picnic baskets.  They clean the graves in the night . Some bring guitars and radios to listen to . The families will stay there all night

 

   The Ghost Festival's original inspiritions are "universal love and piety" because of some spirits without descendants so , the livings on the earth will pray for ghost and spirits and offer them foods and money;"Mulien Saving His Mother from Hades" represent piety. In general , it's a serious time to appriciate and think of our ancestor. The Mexican Day of the Dead introduced from the celtics, the Romans and the Christian's holy days of  All Saints Day and All Souls Day. But it had changed some ways by Mexican. It's time to remember the Dead family members , kids and babies . However, it's not a sad time , but instead a time of remembering and rejoicing.
